Ingredients

Ingredients & Tools Needed:

– ½ cup black seeds (nigella seeds)

– 1 cup extra virgin olive oil (cold-pressed is best)

– A clean, dry glass jar with a tight lid

– A fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth

– A dark glass bottle for storage

Overview

Black seed oil (from *Nigella sativa*) is known for its many health benefits. You can infuse olive oil with black seeds to create a homemade version. Here’s a simple method:

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the Black Seeds

– Lightly crush the black seeds using a mortar and pestle (or a coffee grinder) to release their oils. Don’t grind them into a fine powder—just a coarse crush is enough.

Step 2

 Combine with Olive Oil

– Place the crushed black seeds into a clean glass jar.

– Pour the olive oil over the seeds, ensuring they are fully submerged.

– Seal the jar tightly and shake well.

Step 3

Let It Infuse

– Store the jar in a cool, dark place (like a cupboard) for 4-6 weeks.

– Shake the jar gently every few days to help the infusion process.

Step 4

Strain and Store

– After 4-6 weeks, strain the oil through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a dark glass bottle.

– Squeeze out as much oil as possible from the seeds.

– Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
